Code to Escape: A Minecraft Coding Adventure (12 weeks) – Intermediate

146,00 $

Description

Objective:

To introduce students of all ages to fundamental computer science concepts using a fun, interactive Minecraft: Education Edition escape room adventure. The curriculum aims to:

  • Engage students in problem-solving through computational thinking.

  • Teach them how to create and debug code using MakeCode blocks and Python.

  • Help them understand how coding and logical thinking can apply across multiple subject areas beyond computer science.

Topics Covered:

  • The key computer science topics covered in Escape Estate include:

    Core Computational Thinking Concepts:

    • Decomposition – breaking problems into smaller, manageable parts.

    • Pattern Recognition – identifying similarities or patterns to help solve problems.

    • Abstraction – filtering out unnecessary details to focus on essentials.

    • Algorithms – writing step-by-step instructions to complete a task.

    Computer Science & Coding Skills:

    • Debugging – identifying and fixing errors in code.

    • Sequencing – executing steps in a logical order.

    • Loops – repeating sequences of code.

    • Functions (implied through abstraction and repetition).

    • Pseudocode – planning code in plain language.

    • Problem-solving using block-based and Python coding in Minecraft.

    Minecraft-Specific Challenges Include:

    • Logic puzzles like moving objects, matching patterns, sorting data.

    • Interactive tasks like creating potions, managing mazes, and building bridges.

    • Final boss battle using complex coding tasks (e.g., setting and activating Chrono Cannons).

Outcome:

By completing Escape Estate, students will:

  • Learn and apply the four core computational thinking skills: Decomposition, Pattern Recognition, Abstraction, and Algorithms.

  • Use block-based and Python coding to solve puzzles, debug programs, and complete escape room challenges.

  • Experience decision-making, collaboration, and reflection through gameplay and coding activities.

  • Successfully complete all escape room puzzles, defeat the final “boss,” and claim victory in the form of a one million emerald prize.
