TimeCraft (12 weeks) – Intermediate
146,00 $
Description
Objectives:
To introduce students to foundational computer science concepts through a time-travel-themed coding adventure in Minecraft, using both block-based coding (MakeCode) and text-based coding (Python).
Students solve coding challenges in various historical periods, learning computational thinking and coding structures such as loops, sequencing, and conditionals, while exploring history and innovation through engaging, immersive gameplay.
Topics Covered:
-
Each “Time Split” represents a mini-lesson or challenge focusing on a historical theme, combining coding and exploration:
-
Big Band Jazz
-
Pyramids of Giza
-
Moon Mission
-
The Great Wall of China
-
The Mona Lisa
-
First Flights
-
First Computer Scientist
-
Human’s Best Friends
-
Paleontology Puzzle
-
Elements of Discovery
Each topic includes:
-
Beginner and advanced/intermediate solutions in MakeCode (Blocks) and Python.
-
Exploration of efficient coding practices (e.g., using repeat loops instead of redundant code).
-
Outcome:
By the end of the curriculum, students will be able to:
-
Apply basic to intermediate coding skills in either MakeCode Blocks or Python.
-
Use loops and sequences to improve code efficiency.
-
Identify multiple solutions to a problem and select or improve upon the best one.
-
Understand how computer science intersects with major historical events.
-
Navigate and complete coding missions within different time splits, learning how coding can simulate real-world scenarios.
-
Recognize the importance of code structure and efficiency (especially in Python regarding indentation).
